When can an ear surgery at the earliest?

The human ear is almost fully developed, with the 4th to 6th year of life so that can be a small change such as the creation of ears make at this age, but of course at any later time.

For major interventions such as the shrinking of the ears, you should wait until the end of puberty. Then the growth of the skull is complete and you can judge the relationship face to ears final. During development to adulthood, there are always growth stages for different areas of the body. So, the ratio of body parts may appear at times to each other unbalanced. Surgery is not necessary in such cases by growth spurts.

If the ratio but over 1 year is over heavily unbalanced to face, ears considering surgery can be considered. The ears should be placed first with minor children. With the end of puberty you can leave smaller ears.

Ears shrink OP

The cut on the ear is performed on a most inconspicuous area. Usually cuts the surgeon in the covered area of the upper ear along and then replaces the skin for the intended range. Depending on the nature of the ear, the ear is reduced accordingly by cutting out of the cartilage at the top. The crop can be an inward, pointed triangle in the simplest case, but also a polygon with several corners. The gap in the cartilage is then sewn together.

To get the best result if the piece of cartilage directly at the base of the ear is removed. So result in no visible edges or visible irregularities in the later merging of the cartilage. The skin is removed to the ear approach to, leaving a small scar at the base of the ear to the back of the ear. The scar is not visible in everyday life. The incision behind the ear is sewn with a thread. Within the framework of OP for the ear reduction can be in addition a correction of the earlobe.

The operation is usually outpatient performed in children in general anesthesia because children usually too restless for other anesthesia variants. Youth and adults can also using local anesthesia or sedation operate can be.
